Technical Assistant (BTA)


The primary goal of the research group under the direction of Prof. Michael Filarsky is to develop a better epigenetic molecular understanding of the control mechanism in the life cycle of the malaria parasite. Responsibilities include organization of and planning for the laboratory.

Senior Staff Scientist CryoEM


We are offering an exciting opportunity as Senior Staff Scientist in the cryoEM multi-user facility at the Centre for Structural Systems Biology (CSSB) in Hamburg. We have a fast growing cryo-EM community applying single particle electron cryo-microscopy and electron cryo-tomography for structural cell biology research. The facility currently comprises five electron cryo microscopes: two Titan Krios instruments with phase plate, energy filter, K2/3 and Falcon 3 direct detectors, a Talos Artica with phase plate and Falcon 3 direct detector, a Talos L120C and an Aquilos FIB cryo SEM plus respective auxiliary equipment to complete the workflows. The Senior Staff Scientist (permanent post) will head a team (2 other posts to be advertised shortly) that manage, maintain and develop the facility, support and train users, and get involved in collaborative projects in particular on improvements to cryoEM workflows or instrumentation.

Research Associate (Postdoc)


Responsibilities: Duties include teaching and research in the respective department or institute. Research associatescan also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications as well as acquire teaching experience. These duties are intended to promote academic achievement. Therefore, at least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the associate's own academic work. Specific Duties: Nearly half of the working time this post-doc position offers the opportunity to study the asexual proliferation of the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum in erythrocytes on the molecular level using bioinformatics, imaging and genetic approaches. The successful applicant will also contribute to teaching 4 LVS, training of students and collaborative research work.
