Abstract
Our laboratory uses electron tomography, together with associated structural and cell biology techniques to study how cell surface molecules allow prokaryotic cells to transition from a single-cell to a multicellular lifestyle. I will focus on the latest methodological developments from our group, and report how we are using these developments to reveal fundamental microbiology about how prokaryotes form biofilms, multicells and microbiomes.
