Abstract:
While building models into high-resolution crystallographic or cryo-EM maps is generally straightforward and (these days) largely automated, beyond about 2.5-3 Angstroms resolution the task can be far more difficult. ISOLDE is an interactive model building environment designed specifically for this challenging regime, combining interactive GPU-accelerated molecular dynamics with real-time model validation, live crystallographic structure factor calculations and high-quality visualisation thanks to its host package, ChimeraX. This talk will start with an introduction to ChimeraX for beginning and intermediate structural biologists, followed by a discussion of its potential applications in integrative structural biology for creation of higher-level assemblies. Following the scripted presentation, I will provide an extended Q&A (with demonstrations where needed), in particular providing tips and tricks for more advanced users.
